In England’s tour of Australia, Jos Buttler is expected to return to the team for three T20 matches, which will start on Sunday. Buttler did not play for two months because of a calf injury.
England World Cup squad is complete with three traveling reserves, which have already reached Perth, Australia. Previously, England played seven T20 matches against Pakistan, in which several players missed the series due to work on fitness.
Tymal Mills, who had suffered from a toe problem, is now successfully recovered. Liam Livingstone and Chris Jordan have been suffering from finger and ankle problems, but they are considered more likely to play in the second T20 against Australia.
In the England tour of Pakistan, Buttler was present in the squad, but he didn’t make a competitive appearance. In his absence, Moen Ali captained the team, while Phil Salt opened and kept the wicket. There are a lot of chances that Salt will continue to perform both of those roles even after the captain returns to the team.
Jonny Bairstow will not join the squad in the World Cup because he has undergone successful surgery on a broken leg and dislocated ankle.
Salt said on Friday that the team had not had any sort of conversations to suggest a lineup had been decided. He said things change very quickly in sports, and whatever you have in mind can be out the window the next minute. Moreover, he said so, I am just looking to play the best cricket I can, and hopefully, I am in the XI.
